Description of service

Hook and Gauge provides free, browser-based calculators for crochet gauge conversion, yarn and hook selection, yardage estimation, and project sizing. The tools are provided as-is, without any account, sign-up, or payment required.

Estimates, not guarantees

Every result these calculators produce is a proportional estimate based on standard industry gauge tables and the numbers you enter. Crochet tension varies by person, by yarn, and even by mood on a given day, and no calculator can account for that variation without an actual gauge swatch. We make no guarantee that a finished project will match a calculator's output, and recommend always crocheting and measuring a swatch before committing yarn and time to a full project. These tools are meant to save you arithmetic, not to replace your own measurements and judgment.

No professional advice

Nothing on this site constitutes professional pattern-writing, textile engineering, or safety advice (for example, regarding child safety in amigurumi or garment construction). Use good judgment, and consult established safety guidelines for anything intended for infants or young children.
