How this estimate works
Every project below has a typical yardage range at worsted weight (Medium, #4), built from common patterns of that type. That range is then scaled for your chosen weight, since a lace-weight version of the same physical item takes dramatically more length of yarn than a super bulky one does, and scaled again for crochet vs. knitting, since crochet stitches generally use somewhat more yarn than knit stitches of a comparable finished size. Your entered yardage is checked against each project's scaled range and sorted so the best matches for your stash show up first.
What the fit ratings mean
Comfortable fit means you have more than the typical range calls for, with yarn to spare. Should be enough means you land inside the typical range. Cutting it close means you're just under it — doable if you run a smaller size, use a tighter gauge, or add a contrast-color border to stretch it. Not quite enough means you're meaningfully short of what that project usually needs.
This is a starting point, not a pattern
Actual yardage varies a lot between specific patterns, stitch patterns, and finished sizes — use this to narrow down what's realistic for your stash, then check the specific pattern's own yardage requirement, or run your gauge through the Yardage Estimator for a project-specific number.
