Why the + and − buttons instead of typing a number
A large tap target matters more here than it sounds like it should — this is a tool you'll reach for one-handed, mid-row, often without looking closely at the screen because your eyes are on your stitches. Big buttons that are hard to miss beat a precise but fiddly number field for that use case, which is also why decrementing stops at 0 instead of going negative if you tap it once too many times.
